The Rams have lost starting center, Scott Wells, to the injured reserve.  The Rams placed Wells on the injured reserve following Sundays game in which Wells fractured his foot.  The Rams are now in a tough spot, also losing left tackle Rodger Saffold (neck) indefinitely.

Wells signed a $24 million deal in the offseason and was brought on to be a plus pass protector and run blocker.  Rob Turner will now get his shot to start at center for the follwing weeks.

With the loss of Wells the Rams will most likely continue to struggle with line problems.  Last week Steven Jackson struggled to get anything going on the ground and with a depleted line it is hard to envision him being able to turn it around anytime soon.  The Rams are hopeful right now that Wells will be able to return after midseason on their injury-exempt list.  However, Wells will definitely miss the next 5-6 games.
