The St. Louis Rams have signed middle linebacker James Laurinaitis to a five year, $41.5 million contract extension. With this deal Laurinaitis is guaranteed $23.5 million and the deal runs through the 2017 season. Laurinaitis was entering the final deal of his rookie contract and was due to make $620,000 this upcoming season. Laurinaitis has emerged as on of the better middle linebackers in the NFL over the past few seasons. With the new contract, the Rams have now locked up Laurinaitis as well as LE Chris Long. The Rams are off to a good start in building for a successful future. A side note, Laurinaitis has yet to miss a game since entering the league. The future definitely seems to be bright in St. Louis.
