Rams running back Steven Jackson has been described this preseason as trim, quick and ready.  Over the past seven seasons, Jackson has rushed for at least 1,000 yards in each season.  That streak is the longest active streak of that sort in the NFL.  Only Emmitt Smith, Barry Sanders, Curtis Martin, Thurman Thomas, Eric Dickerson and LaDainian Tomlinson have rushed for at least 1,000 yards in seven or more consecutive seasons.  Jackson has looked even better this preseason carrying the ball 17 times for 89 yards, a 5.2 yards per carry average.  New head coach Jeff Fisher intends to employe a run heavy scheme which Jackson will be the focal point of.  “I’m very happy with Steven,” Fisher said after the preseason finale.  Fisher also was raving about Jackson’s work ethic, his natural ability, how important football is to him and how well he plays without the football.  Jackson will look to start the season off strong on Sunday against the Lions and continue his streak of a 1,000 yard seasons.
