Rams Can’t Overcome Red Zone Struggles

On September 19, 2011, the Rams came to Met Life Stadium to try and spoil the Giants home opener. The Rams took advantage of the turnover prone Eli Manning with Mikell reading his throw to Manningham all the way. The Rams were able to drive all the way down to the red zone, but like the rest of the game, they couldn’t convert from there. The Rams failed to convert their first three red zone appearances to anything more than field goals, and that is a key reason as to why they lost the game. That story would have likely been a lot different had the bruising Steven Jackson been playing, but Cadillac Williams was in and failed to get anything going. He actually looked lost, which could be summed up by pointing to his dropped lateral which resulted in a Giants touchdown. After dropping the lateral, Williams just gave up, but the Giants acted on it and Michael Boley took the fumble to the endzone for 6.

Next week the Rams play the Ravens, so it won’t get any easier for them. Hopefully Jackson can return, because he will be needed. Stay tuned to Rams 360 for all the information you’ll need regarding that game.
